Women who go on dates for a free meal are more likely to be psychopaths or narcissists.
Researchers from Azusa Pacific University and the University of California, Merced conducted two studies that explored the personalities and dating history of heterosexual women. The first analyzed 697 heterosexual women, while the second analyzed 357 heterosexual women.
The study participants answered a series of questions about their personality traits, opinions on gender roles, and their history of going on a date with someone they are not interested in to get free food. Which researchers coined a “foodie call.”
Twenty-three percent of women in the first study group and 33% of women in the second group admitted to engaging in “foodie calls.” For both groups, those who engaged in “foodie calls” scored high on the dark triad of personality traits: psychopathy, narcissism, and Machiavellianism.
Researchers say these results support previous findings that link dark traits to deceptive behavior in relationships.
