Every cute viral video recently involves an adorable child referencing some recent pop culture trend. Most of the time it involves some wicked great dance moves that most grown adults wish they could pull off.  Two months ago a pregnant woman named Lindsey Jones, posted a Youtube video of her and her daughter Jaylan doing their own thing to the popular “Watch Me (Whip/ Nae Nae)” song by Silento. It made the top video list for the second week of August and has over 2.5 million views. Besides being a catchy song with repetitive beats and lyrics and being a great mind break, the little girl and her mom can’t help but make the viewer smile.

There’s something special to be said about parents and children who can have a great time together and doing silly things that bring joy. How often have you taken time to bond with your family, even if it’s over something simple as dancing? Experiences and moments can be imprinted into a child’s mind forever. Don’t forget how little moments and actions can strengthen relationships, one piece at a time. Jaylan excitedly whispers into the camera at the beginning of the video, “My mom is going to rock, but don’t you laugh at her! Also, I already love my baby brother.” The innocent admiration for her family is heart warming as well as their family connection. If you are looking to improve the familiy mojo spice it up.

Spend Quality Time

Remember that it’s not always necessary to spend eight hour outings out every time you want to spend time with with your parents or kids.  Always focus on making the time spent (no matter the length ) with each other intentional. The best memories are made when a person knows their time is valued and appreciated.

Try Something New

Routines are good for being productive, but can cause a major rut in our relationships with family. Go outside your comfort zone and try something new. Go to a new museum, playground, or learn a new game. It’s an experience you can learn and enjoy together. It can always make a great conversation piece for later.

Importance of words

The saying, sticks and stone may break my bones but words can never hurt me has an ounce of truth but is highly misused. Remember to tell you family you love them. Words of encouragement and affirmation are huge daily reminders of family bonds. You can never overuse “I love you” enough to your kids and parents.

Next time your child tells you “Ooh watch me, watch me!” join in on the fun. It’s simply just another way to help you and your family thrive.
