What is Love and Logic?
It is a parenting philosophy that teaches parents skills to use that will allow children an opportunity to learn and grow through their mistakes. Love and empathy delivered from the parent to the child takes the focus off of the parent as a disciplinarian, or “bad guy,” and allows learning to result from the consequences of the child’s actions. Logic involves the way children respond to, live with and learn from the consequences of their choice. With practice, the child will develop an inner voice to guide them as they make choices in life.
Love and Logic is a way of working with children that puts parents and teachers back in control, but simultaneously nurtures mutual dignity and respect between parent and child. It teaches children to be responsible for their behaviors while nurturing a positive, loving relationship between parents and children.
The concepts are easy to learn and can be adapted to fit familial culture, personality style and the age/ability level of the kids. In other words, it can easily be adapted to work with kids of all ages including those with special needs and gifted kids!
