Do you want to be the most approachable person in the room? Follow these four tips.

One, keep an open body position. Your arms should be loose, your head and eyes level with the room. This will communicate confidence and invite people to talk to you right off the bat.

Two, smile. When greeting or talking to others, make a point smile. Many of us forget just how valuable it can be: smiling adds warmth and comfort to a conversation.

Three: show interest in the person you’re talking to. You don’t have to be phony. Ask the individual about things that genuinely interest you like their favorite food or best travel story. The key is to make them feel important.

Four, do something to stand apart from the crowd. Wear a bright shirt or fun shoes. Not into that? Simply be kind and personable to every person you see. They won’t be able to resist initiating a conversation with someone who stands out from the rest.
