Have you ever felt anxious? A few simple practices can help you to manage your anxiety and avoid its negative effects.
One, disconnect to reconnect. When you’re anxious, you might feel compelled to turn to social media, for distraction or comfort, but doing so can actually raise your anxiety. Instead of scrolling through social feeds, stay off your devices to give your mind some quiet.
Two, walk it off. If the weather is pleasant, go for a stroll outside. The sunshine will provide a boost, which can improve your mood and ease symptoms of anxiety. If you’re limited to indoors, that’s okay too, any physical activity can improve mood and help you reduce anxiety.
Three, utilize the power of your mind. Sometimes, we can calm our minds by focusing on the positive. If it’s an upcoming event that triggers your anxiety, try to keep a positive attitude. Tell yourself it’ll go great, instead of thinking about every little thing that could go wrong.
These three tips will help you manage your anxiety the next time you’re met with a stressful or nerve-wracking event.
