You’re reading this because you’ve heard of online counseling. Maybe you have an idea of why it would be advantageous, or maybe you think the entire idea is crazy.
To give you a better understanding of what online counseling looks like, here are a few benefits, provided from the client’s perspective.
1. Convenience
You’re a busy person and you have no idea how counseling sessions will fit into your already packed schedule. Online counseling is a convenient solution for you. You are able to get on the phone or video chat with a counselor at a time that works for your schedule. Talk about convenience!
2. Comfort
You work hard so that you can enjoy a certain comfort level, and you like being comfortable. You expect nothing less than that same level of comfort in your counseling sessions. Staying at home in a familiar environment is certainly a way to keep your comfort level stable. With online counseling, you are able to do just that.
3. Openness
Maybe you’re a naturally shy person, and you just don’t do well with face-to-face meetings. As a result of the shyness you’re a little more closed off than you would like to be.
If this is the case for you, online counseling is a great option. With online counseling, you are able to either speak on the phone with or video chat with a counselor. This can help you to enhance how open you are with the counselor.
There is something about the virtual world that makes opening up and sharing your personal feelings and experiences a little easier.
4. Affordability
Online counseling will give you the same results that going to a physical location will give you, but at a discounted rate. So save a few bucks and get online counseling.

You made a good point when you said that online counseling ensures that you would be in a familiar and comfortable environment during the session. My husband and I have been trying to convince her daughter to see a therapist for her anxiety and depression. She has finally relented to let us schedule an appointment for her next month, so perhaps we should choose an online counselor to ease her into therapy. Thanks for this.
I like that you brought up how online counseling allows you to get the help that you need from the comfort of your own home. My wife is interested in becoming a therapist for people that have experienced elder abuse, but she wants to make sure that her patients will be able to speak with her without having to drive long distances. Maybe she should consider finding a platform where she can help people remotely.
