The One Good Thing About Boredom is…
A philosopher once said, “The two foes of human happiness are pain and boredom”
But new research published in the Cambridge Journal or Education points to the benefits of boredom—describing it as “a legitimate human emotion that can be central to learning and creativity.”
Accordingly, today we are inundated with so much information that we need Boredom to give our brains TIME to sort it out.
Call it, a biological SPAM filter.
Boredom helps the brain to process our experiences with outside world; converting disruptive noise into organized information that can be used more meaningfully and productively.
Research also suggest that those uninteresting moments give our minds a type of “clean canvas” –thereby sparking creativity.
So, next time you find yourself with little going on, remember: while overwhelming Boredom might lead to depression, short stints of “daily blah” could be good for you.
