Do Counselors Need Life Coaching Certification?

From Laura B.:

I see that you are qualified to do counseling, but what are your coaching credentials?

Thanks,
Laura

Answer:

Dear Laura,

Our opinion is that a life coach telling a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC or LPC) or licensed psychologist that they need additional credentials to perform coaching, is like a nurses aid telling an MD they need additional credentials. You can learn more about our perspective on life coaching credentialing programs here:  https://twx.atlantacounseling.com/blog/why-the-life-coach-is-eating-the-counselors-lunch-and-how-to-take-it-back/

I hope this helps!
