Annisha Dunaway, LCSW

Philosophy of Care

Annisha Dunaway is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Virginia who has experience partnering with adults who are seeking help with depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationship issues, PTSD and empowerment. Annisha is a veteran and has a background working with active-duty military and forensic social work. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Maryland University College and her Master of Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University. Annisha continues to increase knowledge so she may serve her clients to the best of her abilities. She is currently working towards her Doctorate in Social Work Clinical Expertise.

Annisha believes healing is a collaborative endeavor that requires honest caring without judgment. Goals are developed following the lead of the client and what they want to accomplish. Rather than adopting one methodology for all individuals and issues, she draws from a variety of methods to create a tailored approach for each individual and situation. As a therapist she considers herself to be warm, open, encouraging, and direct.

Annisha creates the space to safely process, without judgement, and nurtures the courage to be imperfect. She believes that challenges and changes occur to give individuals opportunities to examine their lives and draw from their inner strength the ability to redirect their life’s path. Obstacles are only opportunities for your future.

Mary Alice Fields, LPC

Philosophy of Care

I believe most people do the best they can with the knowledge and experience they possess.  At times in our lives, our knowledge and experience are not enough to solve problems and live our most productive life.  At times like this, collaboration with a licensed professional counselor can help us discover ways to solve issues and achieve our full potential.

Changing or perception of issues can be most helpful.  By adjusting our thought process, we can begin to see our problems in a new light, and discover solutions to seemingly insurmountable issues.  Again, collaboration with a counselor can assist in this process.  Old thought patterns can be replaced with new, healthier thought patterns that help us live our best life.

The most important thing necessary to get you on your way to a more productive life is an open mind and a willingness to change.  As a counselor, I am your partner in ushering in this change.  I cannot solve your problems, but I can and will assist you in learning new ways to achieve your goals.
