Christian Counseling—Therapists, Counselors, and Coaches in Sterling, VA

Life is not always sunshine and rainbows. Things come up and we are faced with challenges that can take over life as we know it. Other times, there are little bumps in the road that we encounter and are fairly easy to overcome. Regardless, having a little extra help to overcome these obstacles, no matter how big or small, can make all of the difference. Sometimes that help can be friends, family, and counselors but almost always we need the help of God. Here at Thriveworks, we understand how important your faith is and we want to help you improve your mental and emotional health through Christ.

If you believe in a God who controls big things, you have to believe in a God who controls the little things. It is we, of course, to whom things look ‘little’ or ‘big.’ – Elisabeth Elliot

Thriveworks Sterling Counseling has trained therapists who have extensive knowledge and experience in counseling strategies and share your Christian faith. They take a holistic approach to care and understand the importance of looking at all aspects of being, including physical, mental, and spiritual. If you think you could benefit from working with a Christian counselor, reach out to Thriveworks Sterling (703) 348-5217.

What Is Christian Counseling?

Christian counseling is a counseling service that is geared towards providing clients with the guidance and support they need to address life’s issues and opportunities in relation to Christianity. Our Christian coaches understand how important it is to have a strong connection with God. That is why the plan of action they create for you will not only be unique but centered around faith and lessons of the bible. Your sessions can be heavily focused on faith or have more of an emphasis on traditional therapy methods. Whatever feels right to you is what we will do!

Christian coaching will use a variety of methods, both spiritually and psychologically, to help you face the obstacles in your way and reach the goals you set. Some of those methods are:

  1. Biblical Lessons: Some of the best lessons we can learn are those that are taught in the bible. During your sessions with a Christian counselor, you will discuss different verses in the bible and apply them to your own life.
  2. Prayer: When building our faith and growing our relationship with God, we do so through prayer. Prayer is a great way to deepen our connection with Him, and also learn how to ask for forgiveness and help and thank God for our gifts.
  3. Traditional Therapy: Traditional therapy methods such as talk therapy can be used to help your Christian counselor connect with you and understand what you are going through. There are so many different methods to therapy that if one thing is not working, your counselor will have a variety of other methods to try out.

During the sessions with your counselor, you will be given many different tools and skills to apply to your life after your counseling is over. We want to equip you with everything you need to feel empowered and able to tackle anything that comes your way. If you have questions or doubts about the following, we can help you:

  • How to find relief through faith
  • Actions and things you can do that align with your faith
  • What the bible says about your adversity
  • The bond you have with God

The possibilities are endless.
