Richmond Christian Counseling—Christian Counselors in Richmond, VA
We all encounter challenges that can cause us to stumble in our faith. We are only human, anyhow—we’re faced with innumerable challenges in every area of life, including our relationships, our careers, our personal lives. Sometimes, these have a handful of negative effects on our life, and sometimes, they completely uproot everything we know and love. Fortunately, no matter what the degree of the problem is, Christian counselors understand that they are part of life and that they’re sometimes too big to solve on our own. Most importantly, they are able to help you work through whatever you have going on. They can also help you walk in your faith again.
When we learn to read the story of Jesus and see it as the story of the love of God, doing for us what we could not do for ourselves—that insight produces, again and again, a sense of astonished gratitude which is very near the heart of authentic Christian experience. –N.T. Wright

Who Can Benefit from a Relationship with a Christian Counselor?
Christian counseling pairs important lessons in the Christian faith with research-backed practices in psychology to help people reach a happier, more successful life. It can help people make important changes in their life, grow through stressful circumstances, manage what they can’t change, and more. The main goal is to help the individual make improvements in his or her life that will enable them to live better. Now, there are other goals too, but these change from client to client, as they are uniquely based on his or her specific challenges, needs, goals, etc.
When there are mentally strenuous, stressful, or otherwise challenging situations, we can find the assistance, guidance, and support that we yearn for in God Himself. Studies show that turning to one’s faith during particularly difficult times truly helps them heal and offers strength. For example, when we get into a heartbreaking fight with our spouse; or, when we struggle to find any happiness or fulfillment in our day to day—whatever it is, a Christian counselor can guide you in the right direction.
Remember that Thriveworks Richmond Counseling is here to meet your many mental health needs. We want to take the load off however and whenever we can. If you think you can benefit from partnering with one of our Christian counselors, consider calling our office now.
You Can Resolve Challenges in Christian Counseling, Including…
As we mentioned previously, the overarching mission that your Christian counselor has is to help you overcome the challenges before you and to help you make changes that will lead to better living. There will be additional goals, of which you and your counselor will identify, as you talk to them about what you’re going through and what’s brought you to counseling. In the meantime, you can read about some common goals in Christian counseling here:
- Working through problems and conflicts with loved ones.
- Managing symptoms of mental illness and identifying potential causes.
- Properly grieving the loss of a friend, family member, pet.
- Better manage the personal and professional stressors in your day to day life.
- Determine and alter unhealthy habits that are negatively impacting one’s life.
Remember, these are just a few common goals that our counselors have helped their clients work toward and accomplish. There are many other goals that you might set, work toward, and achieve during your time in Christian counseling!
