Eating Disorder Therapy – Counselors and Therapists in Littleton
Few things in life are as all-encompassing as our relationship with food. When the relationship is a good and healthy one, it typically goes unnoticed or it’s a positive relationship that brings consistent pleasure and happiness. However, when one’s relationship with food is less that ideal, it can be a relationship wrought with pain, guilt, and shame.
Understanding Eating Disorders
Eating disorders come in many forms. There are the common ones. The one’s that are well known (though often misunderstood) There is anorexia—the eating disorder where one avoids food, and restricts calories. When people think anorexia, they often think about forced purging, but this is not always the case. There is bulimia—the eating disorder where one might participate in binge eating, and then later restrict calories to compensate. And there are other disorders (such as Binge Eating Disorder). Each eating disorder brings with it a different way that one’s relationship with food has gone wrong.
