The goal of CBT is to help the individual to identify their negative thinking patterns and teach them to replace them with more positive thoughts. What would I do during CBT treatment?
CBT is a structured treatment model and is normally short term in nature. CBT is a collaborative approach between therapist and client and treatment generally lasts between 5-20 sessions. It also requires a commitment outside of the therapeutic session where you will be expected to complete weekly homework assignments. During CBT treatment you work with your therapist to identify negative thinking patterns and the behaviors that can be causing you difficulties in your life.
