Rod Johnson, CPC-I, CADC
Rod is a Masters Level Clinical Professional Counselor Intern working on completing the final testing stage of his licensure.
Rod is the perfect embodiment of “you’re never too old to finish something”. He began his bachelor’s degree in 1985 and did not finish until 2014. 29 years to finish a bachelor’s degree is an exceptionally long time. During that 29 years, Rod began a career as a Corrections Officer and Reserve Police officer, and life got in the way of school. During his time with the Macomb County Sheriff Office in Michigan, he worked in the medical and mental health units of the county jail. He relocated to Las Vegas in 1997, and like many coming to this town, worked an array of jobs. He eventually found himself working in the mental health field again, working in Basic Skills Training and Psychosocial Rehabilitation while working on finishing his degrees.
Rod earned his Master of Science in Psychology degree in 2018 from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. His studies focused on both mental health and substance abuse counseling. He has a combined 26 years’ experience working in the mental health field, in various roles. Rod also has extensive experience in facilitating group therapy.
As the husband of a survivor of domestic violence and childhood trauma, Rod has a unique perspective in the treatment of those directly affected by loved ones with PTSD and trauma histories, as well as those directly affected by those issues. Rod takes a very no-nonsense approach to therapy and will tell you like it is, and then help you move past it to find the thing we all strive for: serenity and peace in your life.
