Atia Wise, LCMHC, LCAS-A
Philosophy of Care
My background consists of work with individuals and groups that are seeking personal, educational and career advancement. These individuals have ranged from adolescents to adults looking to find significant meaning in their lives. We work, as a team, toward eliminating any barriers that may hinder your personal and professional growth. I will assist all clients in targeting the factors of life that are interrupting them from reaching their ultimate goal. My passion is guiding clients through the journey of self-exploration, personal advancement and life's transitions. I encourage my clients to push beyond their comfort zone and embrace the opportunities that life presents. Each opportunity is a learning experience and should be met as so. In working with clients, I integrate Person-Centered Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The person-centered approach focuses on the client and their needs and it incorporates goal setting to assist the client with setting workable goals and meeting those goals. The person-centered process also utilizes homework for the client directly related to the areas of focus during a particular session. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy emphasizes the idea that everyone will experience some form of difficulty in life based on their perception of the events that have occurred. Although we all face difficult experiences, through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy the client will learn how to develop strategies that allow them focus on challenging and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy provides the client with the tools to retrain their thoughts and feelings and become conquerors of their difficult situations.
