Richmond Counseling—Therapy, Life Coaching, Psychology, and Psychiatry
Perhaps you’ve asked yourself, “Why am I stuck in this rut? Shouldn’t there be more to life than this?” It’s true, we live in a world where seemingly anything can happen — possibilities are endless, yet when it comes to ourselves, we tend to see a very narrow plain of view.
You desire more in life because you’ve already accomplished so much and want to see what else is possible. Or, maybe you’ve been dealing with emotional pain that you believe is keeping you from living a happy, fulfilling life.
Through counseling and coaching, we believe everyone has the potential to thrive. Sometimes we need a professional, objective voice in our lives to help us discover the route to joy and success because, in reality, our greatest obstacle to living to our fullest potential is always ourselves. External factors can cause us to stumble, but nothing causes us to stop dead in our tracks more than our own self-imposed limitations.
When we realize we need help, though, whether it is for continued growth or for a fresh outlook, the decision is not always easy. We’d like to believe that we’re strong enough to accomplish things on our own, and so seeking a counselor or coach might seem embarrassing.
It’s not embarrassing. Acknowledging the truth of where you are and seeing what you need in order to move forward in life takes a great deal of strength and courage. It’s not shame that keeps you from calling; it’s your Ego — your inner voice that is comfortable with how things are, even if your current situation is not ideal.
Perhaps one of the following scenarios seems familiar:
- A loved one has passed away and the grief is affecting your ability to function normally
- You have a great job but are interesting in maximizing your potential
- Your son or daughter has trouble making friends, and you want to help them have a healthy social life
- A one-time stress reliever has turned into a full-blown addiction
- You and your significant other are considering marriage, and want to talk it over with an experienced professional
Your problems are fully tragic only if you don’t seek the readily available care that you need to overcome them. Help is available right now.
We understand how difficult it can be for some people to call and set up their first session. For those who have never seen a therapist, psychiatrist, psychologist, or coach in the past, it’s a step of faith into unknown territory.
That’s why we want to make the process of scheduling your first appointment to be as hassle-free and inviting as possible. You can call us day or night, on Wednesdays or on Sundays — it doesn’t matter when. We’ll always pick up. We’ll be able to schedule an appointment immediately. Many of our first-time clients see their clinician within 24 hours of contacting us.

Mental and physical health are important aspects of our overall wellness. To be physically healthy, you need to eat a nutritious diet, sleep well, and exercise regularly. Your psychological health also requires attention. It doesn’t just figure itself out. Your emotional and mental diet matter. Resting your mind through meditation matters.
Just like we seek help from medical, nutritional, and athletic professionals for direction on how to be physically fit, a mental health professional can provide similarly transformative support.

Speak With a Psychiatrist — Online Appointments Available at Thriveworks Counseling
Psychiatry is a medical field focusing on mental disorders and their prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Licensed psychiatrists have a firm background in medicine, which can prove useful when diagnosing and treating mental health concerns. The mind and body are tightly interconnected, something that is often clear in the case of mental illness.
People struggling with anxiety, for example, may experience panic attacks or have trouble sleeping. People with addictive behaviors may experience physical symptoms when attempting to adjust or stop those behaviors. As medical doctors, psychiatrists can provide clients with a comprehensive approach that accommodates their physical symptoms, mental health, and environment. They can also prescribe medication if your symptoms require it.
You don’t have to lose hope if you’ve been struggling with a mental or emotional disorder. Our licensed telepsychiatrists at Thriveworks Counseling look forward to meeting you.
