I agree with your point that every married couple should bear in mind that relationships evolve. Relationships take work from both partners to hold together for the long haul. Both partners should focus on spending enough quality time together to grow closer as a couple in order to have a healthier marriage.

I have heard of couples counseling for before marriage. I have also heard of early couples counseling. I think that they can really help young couples to figure out how to work together and be a strong family. When you are young, it can be hard to get used to working with someone all the time. It no longer becomes just your decision but also another persons. There are also different obstacles that you didn’t have before marriage. It would be wise to get some sort of counsel together just to help the relationship flourish.

People always give counseling a bad name. Not necessarily the job type, but the people tend to get labeled for going to counseling. I have been really puzzled as to why our society does that because the counseling helps families out in so many ways. It also shows that you are wanting to make things work out.

Very encouraging! I like how he illustrates that counseling should be considered as an investment in the marriage relationship. Couples need to invest in loving one another. I also appreciate Curtiss’ illustration of the love bank. I think too many couples get in a rut in their relationships and forget to balance the checkbook in their love bank. This article is a great reminder.
