As I am considering selling my group practice, as a single owner, I am wondering if there is anything unethical of selling the client files/database of 10+years of past clients?

I have a 35+ year private practice in Longview, Texas, with a population over 80,000. There are several large corporations in the area from which I draw clients. I still see approximately 40 patients each week and have well over 100 active cases. I receive referrals from doctors, other practitioners, EAP’s, insurance companies and previous clients. I have an excellent unflawed reputation. My lease is in a desirable location but I have no staff. I do my own electronic billing, appointment scheduling and marketing. Currently I do not take Medicaid or Medicare so there is growth potential there if desired. My practice is limited to 12 years old and above. I have a lot of adolescent patients and do a lot of relationship counseling. I would love to sell the practice and get on with retirement !

I own a counseling practice in Phoenix Arizona. I have revenues of $50,000 per year working 4 days per week. I am on 20 insurance panels. I am a solo provider. I have an excellent billing team and administrative assistant who answers my phones and updates my websites and Credentialing. I am considering taking a job with the military as a psychologist.
I am wondering if this type of practice can be sold and at what price it might be valued? I have 3 websites.

I am a Licensed Clinical Worker licensed by the Va. Board of Social Work and also certified by the Va. Board of Psychology to evaluate and treatment sexual offenders. My professional history consists of working for 23 years as a juvenile probation officer and family therapist with a local Court Service Unit. After retiring from the State of Virginia, I began my private practice with a local group of therapist. In 2014, I left that group and established my own practice. I currently employ an office manager and 4 part-time therapists. I addition to outpatient psychotherapy much of my clinical work involves contracts with local agencies to evaluate and treat adolescent sex offenders. I want to retire and sell my practice. My location is excellent, my rent reasonable, and my reputation as a therapist is excellent. My practice has shown a profit for the past 4 years. This year my salary after taxes and expenses was excess of 90,000. Could you provide me advise has how to proceed with selling the practice? I have several professionals interested in purchasing the business. However, I don’t know how to provide them with a price. I addition to a nicely furnished waiting room, I have a receptionist room, a kitchen area, two bathrooms, and four therapy rooms. All spaces are nicely furnished with reasonably new equipment.

I have a private practice that I’m planning on selling as I’m moving to working for Kaiser HMO. I have been in practice for 6.25 years. I gross 95K to 113K. I have no employees. My accounts receivable is 11K. I use electronic billing through an EHR Valantmed.com. Please let me know how I do this? Thanks

I have a private practice in Media, Pa. Centrally located across from the county courthouse. I have been able to establish a strong referral from the court system where I do evaluations and related to Drug/Alcohol and DUI offenses. I am on the court approved list. Additionally, I have a good referral system from the attorneys relating to family matters which are court related as well. Fortunately, the networking has been able to get me much more business and I have since added a colleague who has given me the much needed assistance. I am hoping to somehow sell the practice to my colleague or someone else.

Very helpful article. We are a private practice in Louisville KY. We have great branding and 12 clinicians at this time. Most are part time but our projections show that dashboard should read 150 therapy sessions per week by 3/17. We get approximately 60 inquiries per month and are looking toward capitation contracts. I found that many things show us to be on the right track in developing a robust practice with intrinsic value.
