Great tips! I also recommend that couples try to recognize that by virtue of the lack of physical presence in one another's lives, their communication and level of emotional intimacy may inadvertently be **increased**, rather than decreased. This is counterintuitive because we tend to think, "Well, we've never actually been together, so how close can we actually be?" Ironically, people who are dating in person may people to just "hang out" together and watch a movie or play a board game, but couples dating at a distance are required to talk - face to face (Skype), over the phone, or via email or messaging. Thus, it is natural to find things to talk about, which means each partner may disclose more than they would with a local dating partner, and quicker. Most relationships aren't ready for that at such an early stage, so it wise to limit one's disclosures.

Hope this helps - great article!
